The next steps to opening a Chinese insulation plant in Timmins are set to begin

Timmins Mayor Steve Black is back behind the desk at tonight’s council meeting following his trip to China. This comes as the city signed a Friendship City Memorandum of Understanding with the city Yi Zheng in China. Black says this will help Timmins explore economic, education, and tourism opportunities. Part of that means signing a more formal agreement to bring an insulation plant into the city, something Black says happened while in China.

Black says the next steps are finalizing the land sale and getting the site prepped for construction to begin. After that, the city will be locating source materials for the project, and selecting local partners to get the project moving forward. There is no timeline set for the plant to begin construction, but Black does note this is part of a bigger plan to help diversify the local economy.
