Bisson set to have surgery today, taking a medical leave of absence

Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson has announced he is taking a medical leave of absence. Bisson made the announcement on his Facebook page last night. He had an angioplasty last week, and has developed an infection in the area of the incision. He is scheduled to undergo surgery today to clean out the infection, and fix an artery in his leg at the incision site.

Bisson says his absence will be from six to eight weeks, and will not be able to work. However, his office and staff will remain open over his absence. This comes as the Ontario Legislature is set to open today with a throne speech from Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell.
