AMO conference wraps up in southern Ontario

An Ontario wide conference that brings politicians together has wrapped up in the south. Timmins Mayor Steve Black represented the city at the AMO conference this week, saying he met with all of the mayors from the north. He says that is the NOLUM (Northern Ontario Large Urban Mayors) meeting, and the FONOM meeting, which represents all of the municipalities in northeastern Ontario.

Black says they had discussions on bigger provincial issues, like energy costs and how it impacts the north. He says they also talked abut healthcare funding and home assessments.

Black says the point of those meetings is to speak with like-minded politicians and the province to talk about issues impacting the north. He says it will also unite the north when it comes to lobbying for change.
