Kayak Fest to get some international guests this year

Timmins is celebrating its 35th anniversary with sister city Naoshima, Japan with the help of this month’s Kayak Fest. Mayor Steve Black says the city reached out to delegates from the Japanese city to invite them to come to the annual festival to help celebrate the milestone.

Black says the visit will include a tour of the city to show how it’s changed in the last 35 years, and a civic reception with the delegates, which will feature a history on the partnership. He also says the delegates will be at the Kayak Fest to check out some of the entertainment.

The delegates are flying into Timmins on the 25th and flying back out on the 27th.
