Free fishing continues in northern Ontario this week, which includes Tackle Share programs

Free fishing is allowed in northern Ontario this week as part of the province’s Family Fishing Week. No license is needed until July 10th. Ontario lakes and rivers are home to more than 160 types of fish, and the free week is an opportunity for young anglers to learn about the sport.

The province does remind anyone heading out on the water to follow all of the rules and safety regulations. Ontario Power Generation also has tackle share programs in Timmins and Kapuskasing, allowing for all of the necessary gear to be borrowed for free.
