News Northern College Timmins Campus names their permanent tipi SHARE ON: Melissa Candelaria, contributor, Monday, Apr. 14th, 2014 The permanent tipi at Northern College Timmins Campus has a new name. Last Wednesday, students, staff and the community gathers for a traditional Aboriginal sharing circle to name the tipi Ma-Ma-Wi Kee-Kee-Nao, which is Together our Home in Cree. NorthernCollege President Fred Gibbons says the tipi is an essential college resource for sharing knowledge and the promotion of cross-cultural understanding. The tipi first opened last April and us used for cultural and educational activities like Aboriginal teachings, ceremonies and smudging.
