MP looking for recognition for Canadians who fought in the Cold War

A Northern Ontario MP wants Canadians who fought in the Cold War recognized for their effort. So, New Democrat Carol Hughes is re-introducing her Private Member’s Bill that does just that. Hughes, who represents Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing, says her Bill would create a medal that is wide reaching. It would be awarded to anyone who served in regular and reserve forces, police forces, emergency measures, and civil organizations.

Hughes says from 1946 to 1989 we learned how fragile peace times can be and many Canadians played a key role in keeping that peace. Her Bill has the award named as the Defense of Canada Medal.
