Kapuskasing still moving ahead with a medical marijuana application, despite country’s plan to legalize pot

The application for a medical marijuana facility in northern Ontario will not be affected by the country’s announcement to legalize pot by next year. The application is being sent out from Kapuskasing. Manager of the Kap EDC says if anything that announcement will help their application.

Andre Robichaud says while the town only officially applied last year, planning has been in the works for years. He says there are so few licensed facilities already in the country; Kapuskasing would be the only one in the region, possibly serving a massive area and creating jobs in the process.

The proposal outlines an eventual medical marijuana facility at the Kapuskasing Airport.
