Aboriginal Economic Development Forum helping First Nations and northern cities band together

A landmark event to improve relationships between First Nations and northern Ontario cities is happening this week. Kapuskasing is playing host to the first ever Aboriginal Economic Development Forum.

Grand Chief of the Mushkegowuk Council, Jonathon Soloman, says attendees sharing knowledge is important for economic growth. He says communities can feed off of each other, while helping and supporting each other. Soloman also says that economic growth is the key for healthy people and healthy communities, and collaboration between municipalities and First Nations is crucial.

Representatives from Moose Cree, Mattagami First Nation, and the Mushkegowuk were among the attendees at the landmark event. In total, four First Nations and nine municipalities were in attendance. Soloman says the communities bridging together will go a long way.
