Fedeli asking Ontarians to speak up on proposed changes to senior drug plans

A proposed change to senior’s drug benefits has Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli concerned. As of August 1st, the eligibility income for the low income senior’s benefit will rise from $16,000 to just over $19,000. The number will also increase for couples as well from $24,000 to $32,000.

The government says this will lower costs for 170,000 Ontario seniors. Fedeli says this means 92 per cent of seniors will not benefit from the changes. Ontario’s finance committee will be holding hearings on the budget bill next week, and Fedeli says this is your opportunity to speak up.

This could affect a great deal of northerners as the region has a large older population demographic.
