Timmins is going to look at the dark spots left by LED lights

The city has decided to look into the large number of complaints about the new LED lights. At Timmins council last night, the issue was brought up about the multiple dark spots around town after around 4,000 lights were switched to the new bulbs.

Mayor Steve Black says staff is going to look at the dark spots, and see if the lights meet the standards or not. An internal audit will also look at the original RFP to see if all of the terms have been met. If that Request for Proposal said that Real Term Energy was required to have a certain amount of light coverage, and that standard hasn’t been met, than they would be responsible for the cost of adding new light poles. However that cost may fall on the city, which will be determined when the audit is done.

An update is expected to come back to council next week.
