Escaped prisoner still at large in Timmins

An escaped prisoner is still at large in Timmins. 32-year-old Steven Leduc escaped from custody at the court house yesterday, just after noon. He was wearing ankle and belly chains when he got away from the special constables who escort prisoners to and from court. Communications Coordinator for the Timmins Police, Kate Cantin, says those special constables are not police officers.

Leduc was being transported from the court house to the police’s prisoner van, and got away from custody outside of the Ontario Court of Justice, at Pine and 6th.

Leduc was in court for numerous charges, including theft under $5,000 and property obtained by crime. Cantin says the search is on-going, and officers are still out looking for Leduc. He has a teardrop tattoo under his left eye, and is about 5’5. He was wearing a blue and white polo with a beige jacket and dark pants.

Police are asking residents to check their yards and cars and report anything suspicious.  If you see Leduc, do not approach him. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
