MNR to monitor Timmins lakes this summer

10 lakes in Timmins are going to be monitored by the MNR this summer. They are sending out fishery crews to look at the fish, and check for invasive species, like spiny waterflea and rusty crayfish. The information they gather will help decide setting season length and size limits for anglers.

The crews will sample fish for contaminates, weight, and age. They’ll also look at the water temperatures, clarity, and oxygen levels. Among the 10 monitored lakes in Timmins are Frederick House and Night Hawk.

If you see the Ontario buoys and nets in the lakes, avoid them and don’t take them out of the water. 160 lakes across Ontario will be targeted.
