Timmins and Area Drug Strategy: Be safe while celebrating this summer

Now that the summer season is here, the Timmins and Area Drug Strategy is releasing some tips for safe drinking. Public Health Nurse Jennifer Bisson says binge drinking means having more than three alcoholic drinks for women, and four for men.

Bisson says binge drinking can lead to violence, alcohol poisoning, and potential injuries. She says you can stay safe by keeping track of your drinks, and alternate them with a non-alcoholic beverage.

Bisson also says it’s a good idea to plan a safe ride home ahead of time, and never mix alcohol with medications, drugs, or energy drinks.

She says time is the only thing that can sober you up, and it can take an hour for your body to process one standard drink.
