There is a new phone scam warning for Ontario businesses.
CPR Call Blocker is urging businesses to hang up when receiving a call from an alleged local police officer encouraging you to donate to a community cause. CPR says the scammer claiming to be police will ask for a donation over the phone to a charity they claim you have donated to before.
The company says to verify the caller, ask for full name, job title and telephone number so you can double check their information. They also advise businesses to be aware of all causes they have supported in the past in order to avoid being fooled into a fake donation.
