Ontario investing $541M into roads across the north

The province of Ontario is making it easier and safer for residents travelling Northwest by repairing and expanding the highway network. The province is investing $541-million in highway infrastructure across Northern Ontario. The Ministry of Northern Development says this investment will include work on the expansion of the Highway 11/17 stretch between Thunder Bay and Nipigon. Construction is underway on almost 20 kilometres of road expanding it to four lanes. The Ministry also says work is being completed on the Nipigon Bridge.

The Ministry says this part of the largest investment in public infrastructure in the history of the province, which works out to be about $160-billion over 12 years. The funding is going into roads, bridges, schools, and transit. The initiative will support 110,000 jobs every year across the province.
